Shayan Zadeh Shayan Zadeh (Founder & CEO) is a successful technology entrepreneur with deep technical expertise in areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Prior to Leap Rail, Shayan co-founded Zoosk, one of the world’s largest online dating platforms and a top 10 grossing app in the Apple App Store. Shayan led Zoosk as CEO for 7 years, raising over $60M in venture capital and growing the company to over $200M in annual revenue.

Shayan received a Master in Computer Science from University of Maryland and an MBA from University of Washington. He has been named to 40 Under 40 list by San Francisco Business Times and Alumni Hall of Fame by University of Maryland. His companies have won awards such as WSJ's Next Big Thing and Inc. Magazine's Inc5000, among others.

Jeffrey Rivest Jeffrey Rivest (Advisor) is a nationally recognized health care executive who has played a key role in the growth and success of several leading academic medical centers for more than 40 years. He most recently served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) from 2004 to 2015.

At UMMC, he led the organization through an aggressive expansion strategy, increasing inpatient and outpatient volumes, expanding market share and producing consistently strong financial results. Under his leadership UMMC grew to a $1.6 billion organization with over 8,000 employees and 1,000 medical staff and elevated its national profile while receiving numerous, prestigious awards including the Leapfrog Group’s Top Hospital of the Decade for Quality and Patient Safety. UMMC’s growth and success was driven by Jeff’s consensus building leadership, utilization of industry best practices and a culture of focused execution on key organizational strategies. During Jeff’s tenure, UMMC achieved Magnet Designation from the American Nurse Credentialing Center and was ranked in nine specialties in the annual U S News and World Report list of top hospitals.

Thomas Krummel, M.D. Thomas Krummel, M.D. (Advisor) has served in leadership positions in many of the important surgical societies including the American College of Surgeons, the American Surgical Association, the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and was the President of the American Pediatric Surgical Association for 2013-2014. Dr. Krummel has lectured throughout the world, is author or co-author of over 300 publications, chapters, abstracts and books and he has mentored over 200 students, residents and post docs.

Over the last 20 years, Dr. Krummel has been a pioneer in the application of information technology to simulation-based surgical training and surgical robotics. Dr. Krummel, along with Dr. Kenneth Salisbury, Professor of Surgery and Computer Science, is the recipient of one of the first NIH Phased Innovation R21/R33 programs to develop collaborative simulation-based surgical training systems. For his work in this area and in surgical robotics, he has received two ComputerWorld Smithsonian Awards.

Gary Goldman, DDS MD Gary Goldman, DDS MD (Advisor) has been a practicing anesthesiologist and innovation-focused business leader for over 25 years. He is fellowship-trained in obstetric anesthesia at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and in neurosurgical anesthesia at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Goldman is one of Sutter Healthcare’s Enterprise Physician Informatics Leads who oversaw Sutter’s 27 hospital Enterprise Epic EHR implementation project for anesthesiology and OpTIme-related perioperative services.

Bauback Safa, MD, MBA Bauback Safa, MD, MBA (Advisor) is a reconstructive microsurgeon and hand surgeon at the Buncke Clinic in San Francisco, Calif. He also serves as clinical assistant of professor of plastic surgery at both Stanford and University of California, San Francisco departments of surgery/plastic surgery. Dr. Safa serves as a member of the executive council of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and also as the president of the American Society of Gender Surgeons.

Dr. Safa is co-founder and chief medical officer of Mozart Medical, a health data aggregation platform. He is also chief medical officer of Zipline Medical. Dr. Safa obtained his MD from the Stanford University School of Medicine and his MBA from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. He completed his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Stanford, followed by a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at the Buncke Clinic.

Adam Schlifke, MD, MBA Adam Schlifke, MD, MBA (Advisor) is a board-certified anesthesiologist throughout the Bay Area with a particular interest in improving the delivery of healthcare through the proper use of technology. Dr. Schlifke serves as an advisor to several digital healthcare accelerators and both early and later-stage health technology startups throughout the United States. Dr. Schlifke is excited to use technology to positively impact clinical workflow.
